The Role of Head of Marketing

This pivotal role holds significant prominence within the organisation, tasked with crafting and executing strategies across all marketing channels to bolster our market position, enhance brand recognition, drive marketing qualified leads, and ensure sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Analysis:

  • Apply analytical rigor to marketing efforts, with attribution and ROI at its core.
  • Regularly engage with and analyse audiences to gather qualitative insights and understand market motivations.
  • Analyse and identify impactful channels for our market, adjusting budgets and building campaigns accordingly.
  • Conduct competitive analysis to inform marketing strategies.

Digital Marketing Management:

  • Manage and optimise our website and owned channels for maximum visibility, engagement and lead generation.
  • Finetune and oversee the implementation and activation of the channel strategy across:
    • Paid Social
    • Email Marketing
    • SEO
    • Paid Search
    • Events (virtual & F2F)
    • PR
  • Manage marketing automation software to streamline processes and enhance campaign effectiveness.

Revenue Generation and Sales Enablement:

  • Collaborate closely with the sales team to develop and implement ABM strategies that support lead generation, conversion, and retention.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive MQL strategies aligned with overall business objectives, including lead generation, pipeline management, and conversion optimisation.

Financial Management and Reporting:

  • Control the marketing budget effectively, allocating resources to initiatives that deliver the highest ROI and align with business priorities.
  • Continuously monitor and analyse the performance of marketing initiatives against sales targets and KPI metrics. Use data-driven insights to optimise strategies and maximise ROI.
  • Deliver monthly reports with identified insights to set the course for improvements.

Team Leadership and Communication:

  • Provide line management to 3 marketing team members, fostering their growth and development within the organisation.
  • Communicate the progress of all hero marketing campaigns, overall strategy and marketing team performance to the entire business.

Vendor and Partner Management:

  • Liaise with multiple third-party partners to leverage external expertise and resources effectively.

Customer Journey Mapping and Content Strategy:

  • Lead efforts to further improve our understanding and mapping of the customer journey, identifying key touchpoints and optimising marketing efforts to enhance customer experience and drive conversions.
  • Drive thought leadership initiatives and content strategy to position the company as an industry leader and generate interest among target audiences.
  • Utilise market segmentation techniques to identify and target high-value customer segments effectively, tailoring messaging and campaigns to their specific needs and preferences.

Lead Nurturing and Conversion Optimisation:

  • Develop lead nurturing programs and strategies to engage and convert leads throughout the sales funnel, leveraging remarketing automation and targeted content.

Marketing Technology Stack Management:

  • Oversee the selection, implementation, and optimisation of marketing technology tools and platforms to support marketing objectives and improve efficiency.

Customer Retention and Loyalty Programs:

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance customer retention and loyalty, including customer engagement initiatives, loyalty programs, and customer satisfaction measurement.

Stakeholder Communication and Alignment:

  • Ensure effective communication and alignment with internal stakeholders, including sales, account management, and executive teams, to ensure marketing initiatives are integrated and support overall business objectives.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

Leadership and Team Collaboration:

  • A robust background in marketing leadership roles within B2B organisations, demonstrating a track record of success.
  • Expertise in managing, consistently delivering, and evolving rapidly growing B2B businesses, with a proven ability to generate marketing qualified leads.
  • A comprehensive marketing experience to the table, ideally having played a role in the growth of professional services organisations.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams or collaborating with other departments such as sales, product, or customer success.
  • Experience in fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement within the marketing team.

Strategic Marketing Skills:

  • Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in the B2B marketing landscape, such as account-based marketing (ABM), conversational marketing, or predictive analytics.
  • Experience in customer segmentation and persona development to tailor marketing strategies for different audience segments.
  • A proven ability to collaborate closely with the sales team to develop sales enablement materials, such as case studies, product collateral, and sales presentations.
  • Expertise in developing and executing channel marketing programs to support partner or reseller channels, driving co-marketing initiatives and partner enablement activities.

Analytical and Budget Management Skills:

  • Clear proficiency in data analysis tools and platforms to derive actionable insights from marketing performance data.
  • Experience of owning and managing a marketing budget, ensuring resources are effectively managed and provide true business value.
  • Experience in forecasting and resource allocation to ensure the optimal use of budget and resources for maximum ROI.

Presentation and Communication:

  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to effectively communicate marketing strategies and performance to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • An outstanding attention to detail, and the ability to apply this to scrutinising all output whilst constructively feeding back to the team.

Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Additional certifications or training in areas such as digital marketing, project management, or leadership development (non-essential).
  • Have a professional Marketing qualification (non-essential).
